Preston Parade

On the seafront in Whitstable, the scheme required two new build houses for siblings on a single dwelling site. The challenge was to create privacy and to maintain aspect without seeming overbearing on the site.

Using the local architecture of boatsheds as a reference, the houses sit raised by half a level to take advantage of the vista, the under house garage space allows one to drive in, decluttering the front; while the staggered footprint maintains an open feel to the plot.
