Deepak Food Factory

This site near Nairobi in Kenya is under construction for a gravity-fed system in an organic food processing plant. Works were started in early 2017 and should be completed early in the new year. A mix of super-insulated panels with a locally produced block was used to keep the large volumes cool in the midday heat.

A series of roof planes that intersect each other create high-level clerestory windows to keep the spaces bright and working conditions pleasant. The orthogonal block that adjoins the factory is set around a central planted courtyard, so the office’s spaces have green elements to both sides and a communal shaded space to convene.
